There are three parts to this assignment 1) problem definition, 2) situation analysis and 3) research plan/design. This document should be 3 pages double-spaced. Remember to cite all sources that you quoted, summarized or paraphrased both in the text and the reference list at the end of your report, using APA style. Problem definition Clearly write down your research question or questions. In order to do this you need to identify your target market and how you will decide whether or not your product appeals to your target market. Situation analysis (SWOT) A SWOT analysis includes analysis of the following: Industry Company or service Product Sales history Share of market Description of the market How the product is distributed Pricing policies Efficacy of existing promotional strategies I do not expect you to be able to address all of these topics. However, it is my hope that you can effectively address 5-6 of the above topics. Research plan/design This is a very preliminary research plan. Take the information from your SWOT analysis (i.e. the information you do know) and figure out what you still need to know in order to effectively sell your product or service. Items that should be included a research plan are 1) hypotheses/research questions 2) methods used to answer the hypotheses and research questions 3) a population appropriate recruitment strategy 4) a timeline, 5) overall approach for focus groups, including your recruiting plan, number of focus groups conducted (at least one focus group), number of participants (at least six participants), participant profile, participant incentives. You will be graded on the following criteria 1) does it all fit together—does your research plan make sense give your target population and product 2) clarity of writing—can I follow what you intend to do and 3) are all of the parts we asked for present in the assignment.
