Overview of ‘Individual Differences in Cognition (Hierarchical Multiple Regression)’

This specialist stream will develop your use of Multiple Regression as a statistical tool to investigate individual differences in cognition.

Week 6: Introducing the Stream, the coursework, and the concept of investigating individual differences in cognition. Designing your study stage 1.

Week 7: Using Multiple Regression to investigate individual differences and introducing the concept of hierarchical Multiple Regression. SPSS exercises on hierarchical Multiple Regression. Designing your study stage 2. Potentially finalising your study and getting your ethics from signed off by your seminar leader.

Easter Break: three week break in between Week 7 and 8.

Week 8: Finalising your study design, gathering your materials, finalising your brief, consent form, debrief, and submitting an ethics form. If data has been collected, help with analysis will be provided.

Preparation for this topic

Make sure you are familiar with the Multiple Regression material from the first half of RM4
Do some literature searching to find out about what aspects of cognition you can investigate individual differences in
Think also about some traits (measured by questionnaires) that may ‘predict’ your chosen aspect of cognition.

THIS IS OUR GROUP QUESTION WE CAME UP WITH THAT WE WILL WRITE ON:
Question: Measuring everyday cognitive failures
(Independent variable/predictors is : Anxiety, mindfulness and alchohol consumption. and the Dependent variable/criterion variable is : Everyday cognitive failures
Looking at how does Anxiety predicts failure,how does mindfulness predicts failures, how does alchohol predics failures.

N.B : please i will send the DATAS by attachment and you will Analyse it by SPSS
Also : PLEASE READ THROUGH LECTURE (7 and 8 in the attachment and follow same e.g the way the result was reported).and even the class wexercises we did and follow same procedures.

N.B : I have also attached the QUESTIONS for the coursework , please also READ through it and folow all what needs to be followed and also the introduction, abtract, participants ,method etc, that is in the questions.
