On page 321 in Chapter 9 of the text, there is a description of some of Walmart’s inventory management. Whether you love Walmart, hate it or something in between, the fact of the matter is that Walmart is a leader in Supply Chain Management. Much of supply chain management has to do with managing inventory. Walmart has implemented many cutting edge practices such as cross-docking, Everyday Low Pricing, RFID and CPFR, just to name a few.

For this post, research an inventory management practice that Walmart is using. You can do this on line or by visiting a nearby Walmart. Write a description of the practice and then state your opinion on it. For example, “Is the practice cutting edge?”, “Is it ethical?”, “Would you manage a business that way?”, “What do the customers gain?”, “What do the suppliers gain?” Pick one of these questions for comment or make up your own.
